I bounced 4 out of 6 shells on a broadside Nurnberg (I hit roughly half way up the ship from the waterline near the funnel and got no cits) then later got 6 regular pens on an Omaha which was 7 kms away with the shots dispersing all along the waterline.Worthy of as much contempt as you can have for a pixelbote.Īrmour is ineffective except in getting citadelled more trivially than Nurnberg and Konigsberg COMBINED, guns cannot keep up with hull traverse even with equipment and EM skill, torpedoes are a bad joke as it lacks the armour and speed to close (battleships no longer charge German cruisers, they've learnt well enough), engine dies if sneezed upon, also has terribad camo. Like I just seem to have terrible RNG in this ship. I like this ship a lot more than the Nurnberg, but I just can't find the sweet spot for this ship. The shell arc is also essentially a USN arc after 13 kms as the shell pretty much just falls out of the sky rather than fly into the ship. Like your shells have a like 900 m/s initial velocity according to the ship stats in-game, but you lose velocity extremely quickly making long range shots somewhat awkward. When you play this, you really are a support ship, but you really do too much as a support ship. You also have good enough damage and fire rate along with Hydro to chase DD's, but have too poor turret traverse and turning to actually charge into smoke. So with the Yorck, you have the amazing German AP damage but are unable to use it effectively, surprisingly decent HE but obviously lags behind IJN damage and Soviet fire rate, and enough AA and maneuverability to protect yourself from air attacks but can't compete with USN abilities to protect themselves and others. ![]()
